    Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

    STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.

    Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine turns over.

    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.

    STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chain saws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

    Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.

    Master Control Lever™
The Master Control Lever™ is an easy to use single lever, operating the choke, starting throttle lock and on-off switch. The operator must pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a very hard working tool. I love my saw. It is just the right size for the kind of work I do. Not too big, but with plenty of power. Always easy to start. I work this tool very hard every weekend. As with all my Stihl products, I've had very good luck. April 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by would not recommend this product I bought my Stihl MS 250 chain saw in 2011, and have had a problem for over two years getting it to crank. Seems the engine will flood 4 times out 5. I have tried all the various modes - choke closed, choke open, ignition, etc., and nothing seems to work. Take it to the dealer and always same story - engine is flooded. Follow the booklet and dealer instructions on proper cranking procedure to no avail. Definitely would not recommend this product to anyone!! April 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Saw is "ok" I bought this saw for ranch use cutting staves. It took a few days for the saw to gain full power which is normal but afterwards I was not impressed. Firstly the saw has little power and I am only cutting 2 to 3 inch limbs and bucking them at 5 foot. This saw struggles with that and I see no reason why. Secondly it is made from useless material, the clutch cover is plastic and so is the case and I have already seen melting near the dawg drill holes. I would not recommend this saw I would rather buy an older pro saw like an 036. April 4, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Extremely difficult to start! I bought the Stihl MS 250 to replace my 35+year old E*** because it had gotten difficult to start and I had heard the Stihl was a good brand. That was money wasted as the old chainsaw still starts better and cuts as well as the Stihl. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! April 2, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Hard Starting I have been VERY disappointed with this saw; supposed to be "so easy, even a child can run it" ?REALLY This is the biggest waste of money ever. I had trouble from the first day; took it back, the dealer mad some adjustments...and it still starts MAYBE 1 in 10 times. I have had many saws and worked for the Forest Service as a faller, never had trouble like this. I would NOT RECOMMEND this SAW to ANYONE, not even a child March 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hits above its weight very impressed with the lite weight and power this saw has. I was contemplating buying cheaper brands but having owned a few of them over the years I knew they just don't last long term, plus so many of the chainsaws in this class weigh in the 17 to 20 lb range. I bought it for limbing and felting trees in the 12 to 14 inch range and it has been the equal of any task I have ask of it. it was bought at heplers hardware in youngwood pa, folks that I have delt with and trusted for many years now and this purchase has only justified my confidence in the products I purchase from them. great saw for anyone. highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little saw I only owned the saw a few days, but I was very impressed at the power to weight ratio of this saw. I bought this saw for a lightweight around the house saw and I think it could handle much more. I am happy with my purchase so far. March 30, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by All around good chainsaw. I have had my MS250 for almost 2months now. It is hands down the best chainsaw I have ever had. I am glad I decided to purchase the MS250 over the cheap "use it and throw it away" chainsaws you get at major chain stores. My only complaint would be when I first got it, I spent some time breaking off the melted excess plastic inside the fuel tank and bar oil tank that is a result of the molding process of the plastic tanks. It's not a big deal but I didn't want those pieces breaking off and floating in the 2 tanks. It's a small task to remove the melted excess before assembly and wish Stihl took the time to do it. Other than that I am very pleased with the product and do recommend it. March 22, 2014
